Code Vein 2: Mask of Idris Adds a Dreg Heap-Style Location and a Powerful New Companion

Bandai Namco has finally dropped the first details for Code Vein 2’s only story expansion, Mask of Idris. It offers a brand-new story wherein players travel to the Forsaken Realm, a collection of doomed worlds/timelines not unlike the Dreg Heap in Dark Souls 3: The Ringed City.

Described as possessing “a massive, swirling convergence of emotions, continuously pulling in fragments from across time and space” at its core, there’s plenty of “danger and discovery” to be had. Thankfully, you won’t be alone in this journey, as Liv Voda, the original guardian of the Temporal Rift and Valentin’s sister, steps up. She can be quite combative, though, which should introduce an interesting new dynamic.

There’s also Lou MagMell, who you’ll remember from the base game. What is she doing here and why does she want to stop the Forsaken Realm’s expansion (potential reality-ending consequences aside)? Time will tell – and maybe shed some more light on who Idris is – but she’s apparently both an “ally and enigma.”

Of course, Mask of Idris won’t be accessible immediately. Players must achieve the “Luna Fraterna” ending in the base game and progress through “Valentin’s Quest” to gain access. It’s also worth noting that Version 2.0.0 will launch with the DLC, offering new post-game avenues alongside other “additional content.”

There’s no release date yet, but more details will be revealed “soon”, so stay tuned. Code Vein 2 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out our review of the base game here.
