Horizon Steel Frontiers Is A New MMORPG Set In Horizon's Universe For Mobile

At Korea’s premiere game conference, G-Star 2025, NCSOFT unveiled its new global MMORPG, Horizon Steel Frontiers, as a mobile multiplayer title set in the Horizon universe.

The new MMORPG is developed in collaboration with Guerrilla (who have also made the mainline Horizon titles and Killzone). Horizon Steel Frontiers is an MMORPG set in the Horizon universe, developed exclusively as a mobile title. This announcement quells rumours from earlier in the year that the title had been scrapped.

The title is a bit removed from the mainline series, as it is set in the Deadlands, the lands of the machine hunters. Horizon Steel Frontiers builds on Horizon’s hunting-action gameplay while introducing MMORPG systems that feature deeply customizable combat and extensive player freedom. The title aims to deliver a distinct Horizon experience to players around the world, and NCSOFT has launched a new trailer with the announcement that can be seen below.

The Horizon series has been a longstanding pillar in the PlayStation catalogue since Horizon Zero Dawn launched for the PlayStation 4 back in 2017. Since its release, the series has sold millions of units globally, has ported both Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel to Steam, and even received a brick version with the arrival of LEGO Horizon Adventures. The feature protagonist of Horizon, Aloy, has also made an appearance in the popular HoYoverse title, Genshin Impact, as a fully playable character. It’s safe to say Horizon is a big deal.

NCSOFT Chief Corporate Officer, Taekjim Kim, said, “When I first experienced Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017, I was instantly drawn into its vibrant and captivating world. The battles against colossal machine lifeforms were exhilarating, and the mysterious narrative sparked my curiosity, urging me to explore every corner of that universe. Yet I couldn’t help but feel a little wistful that such an incredible world had to be experienced alone,” adding, “I imagined how thrilling it would be to meet others, to team up and face these massive machines together.” Horizon Steel Frontiers is a dream realized for the team at NCSOFT.

More information regarding Horizon Steel Frontiers will be revealed in due time through the NCSOFT website.
