Dead Rising hasn’t seen a new entry since Dead Rising 4 back in 2016, though Capcom did release Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster back in September last year.
What’s more, it seems the Japanese publisher isn’t stopping there, as the website MP1st claims to have heard rumors of a new episode in development since 2023. Known by the code name “Rec,” it would allow players to take on the role of Frank West, the hero of the first Dead Rising. The story would take place in a huge closed movie studio in Hollywood.
Frank is expected to have access to his famous camera, and missions could be timed. Although not yet confirmed, the plot could also be a direct sequel to the original Dead Rising. Several survivors, including a young girl searching for her sister, will accompany the protagonist.
In addition, this new Dead Rising is not expected to be released for several years.
