Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Will Have Open Matchmaking, Persistent Lobbies

Following a positive response to open matchmaking in the open beta, Treyarch has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will use this as the default at launch.

But that’s not all. Multiplayer will also have persistent lobbies with a focus on “keeping players together from match to match more often.” More details are coming closer to launch, but considering how much the community has demanded this over the years, it’s good news. Treyarch is also working on “fair and competitive balance across all input devices,” and has “potential adjustments” to controller aim assist strength and rotational aim assist coming up.

Available on November 14th, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and PS4. At launch, multiplayer promises 18 maps, more than 20 Scorestreaks and 30 weapons. Alongside the return of Omnimovement from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (which currently has a free trial until October 16th), it includes the new Overclock system. Utilizing Scorestreaks and Field Upgrades will upgrade them throughout a match, unlocking additional benefits.

Of course, there’s also a new Zombies campaign and, for the first time ever, four-player co-op in the campaign (which sadly won’t have difficulty options). Stay tuned for more details before release.
