Bungie is working on changes, improvements, and plenty of new features for Marathon

Like ARC Raiders, Marathon is another shooter that plans to get revamped to attract more players. In a lengthy post, Bungie outlined the many changes to come.

The devs have stated that the Marathon journey will span multiple seasons. The primary goal is to retain the player base by addressing certain issues. For example, the game will be made less repetitive and more rewarding. Improvements will be made to the interface, matchmaking, solo/duo gameplay, and the endgame meta. The goal will also be to simplify the onboarding process for newcomers.

Additionally, Marathon will get new areas, enemies, weapons, loot, and many other elements over the course of the seasons. Progression will also be made more engaging thanks to redesigned systems. Survival experiences tailored to players’ different preferences (relaxing or more challenging) will be introduced. Expect some matches focused purely on PvP and others on PvE.

In this regard, Marathon will introduce two experimental PvE modes during Season 2, which begins on June 2. The first will arrive at the start of the season, offering a streamlined version of PvE with a touch of PvP. Finally, the second mode, set to launch in the second half of the season, will be exclusively PvE, allowing players to complete objectives and progress together from one match to the next.
