This would mark a complete turnaround for Bungie following the discontinuation of Destiny. Currently focused solely on a challenging Marathon run, the American studio might soon be working on a project that is, to say the least, unexpected.
According to a Destiny-focused content creator named Trance, Bungie and Sony are reportedly in talks with 2K Games and Gearbox Software to produce a remake of the first Borderlands. The project is said to be an open-world title similar to Borderlands 4, featuring paid seasonal content. The player’s avatar might also be partially customizable, similar to Destiny.
If a deal were to be reached, Gearbox would also likely work on a remake of Borderlands 2 as a temporary PS6 exclusive. Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt.
