Following the critical and commercial success of Baldur’s Gate 3, the RPG franchise could be coming back with one or more of its earlier titles.
In fact, PC Gamer reported this week that a remake of Baldur’s Gate 2 is reportedly in development. Released in 2000 by BioWare, the title is set to make a comeback under the direction of Kevin Martens, who was a co-designer on the original game. In the past, he has also worked on Neverwinter Nights, Mass Effect, and Diablo 3. At Wizards of the Coast, he is also contributing to the production of Exodus, which is set to release next year.
In other great news, a remake of the first Baldur’s Gate is also reportedly in the works. Both titles could even be developed simultaneously. Given their age, these games are expected to undergo a major overhaul and get plenty of improvements.
