Black Ops 7 Overlooks PS5 Feature Again

Call of Duty players are left feeling frustrated once more after a PlayStation 5 feature has been overlooked again.

Since its inception in 2003, the Call of Duty franchise has not only been one of Activision’s biggest properties, but it has also remained one of the most lucrative video game franchises of all time, regularly topping the best-sellers list.

This week, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, and while some might not be keen on its returning futuristic setting, it will most likely top the charts once more, and with that, the developers at Treyarch and Raven Software will be hoping for critical acclaim.

However, when the reimagined Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was released in 2023, to the dismay of PlayStation 5 gamers and trophy hunters, it did not launch with a Platinum Trophy to acquire. Oddly, the PS4 version did have the trophy. It’s believed by some of the community that the reason why Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III had no Platinum Trophy on PlayStation 5 is due to it being categorised as DLC for the ‘Call of Duty HQ’ launcher.

Furthermore, on PlayStation 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 does not have a Platinum Trophy to acquire. Despite the recent trend, and while it should come as no surprise, fans are disappointed to learn that Black Ops 7 will also have no Platinum Trophy.

Call of Duty completionists are disappointed

Black Ops 7 does not have a Platinum Trophy,” announces Reddit user FSINNER. “If you’ve pre-ordered and are waiting for Friday’s launch, just a quick note — this Call of Duty, like the previous few titles, doesn’t include a Platinum Trophy. Definitely a letdown for completionists.”

Call of Duty Platinum Trophies, as with 100% Achievements on Xbox, have always been a gruelling task for completionists, which, for many, is a huge part of its appeal. When you acquire that Platinum and 100% completion, it’s well-earned.

“It will have a Platinum in three to four years when it splits off from the Call of Duty launcher, like MW3 just did,” claimed Baseball_slayer2334.

“Guess we’re doing the PS4 version again,” declared Hawk54eye.

“That’s annoying.. Call of Duty used to be a fun Platinum,” exclaimed UnexpectedRanting.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be released this Friday on 14 November, for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. It will also be available at launch for those who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and will be included in lower tiers later down the line.
