An acclaimed PS4 adventure game just received a free PS5 upgrade out of nowhere, giving players a new set of trophies to unlock. 2017’s co-op game We Were Here, which was briefly free on the PS4, is now available on the PS5. However, the upgrade is only free for existing owners.

We Were Here’s free PS5 upgrade dropped several weeks ago, but it flew under the radar. I randomly spotted the game while browsing the PS Store today and figured I’d give fellow fans a heads up.
There’s good news for those who missed out on the original freebie, too. The new cross-buy version is just $0.99 on the PS Store until October 23. If you miss this chance, you’ll have to pick up the episode for $1.99 later down the line, should you wish to dive into the series.
For the uninitiated, We Were Here tasks two players with working together to find their way out of a frozen wasteland.
As for trophies, the PS5 set doesn’t seem to auto-pop. However, those who’ve already played should be able to unlock the second Platinum trophy in less than an hour.
The last We Were Here game, We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip, released in 2023.
