Battlefield 6: the game with the daunting task of restoring the franchise to its former glory

While the Battlefield series enjoyed a strong reputation among fans of the genre for years, one installment tarnished its image and reshuffled the deck for the franchise. As you might expect, we are of course referring to Battlefield 2042, released on November 19, 2021, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Battlefield 2042: a huge disappointment…

While there was a lot of excitement when it was first announced, the release was a huge disappointment for fans. Upon its arrival, the experience was marred by numerous bugs and major technical issues, making for a very difficult start.

Players quickly realized that the game had been released too soon and wasn’t really finished. Add to that huge mechanical and design issues, coupled with a severe lack of content, with very few maps to play on, extremely limited weapons, and modes that weren’t really polished.

The result was clear: in just a few weeks, the majority of players left the game and anger quickly became apparent in user ratings, especially on Steam. Despite attempts by DICE and Electronic Arts to salvage the situation, they never got back the confidence of fans and those struggledf to forgive and forget.
