Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios confirmed its next game, Divinity, at last month’s The Game Awards.
While Divinity is familiar territory for Larian, the upcoming RPG is expected to act as somewhat of a soft reboot, allowing new players to hop into the acclaimed franchise.
We’ve seen nothing of the game outside of a very gory sacrificial trailer which is no real surprise given that Divinity is expected to be several years away from launch.
It’s a damn good job then that community mod projects exist, as there’s plenty out there to sustain us Larian fans during this prolonged wait.
A recently revealed mod will do that by the bucket load; Baldur’s Gate II: Rebirth is a total conversion mod meaning that a full-game fan experience awaits those who download it.
As you’ve likely guessed, this is a total conversion mod for Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition which, as reported by DSOGaming, introduces an original storyline, new characters, and a brand new world.
Over 30 Hours of New Content
The experience unfolds over five chapters, with nine key areas for players to visit, and is set within Cormyr.
Major landmarks include the Royal Palace Gardens and the War Wizard Citadel, while there are also five major regional hubs including Waymoot, Eveningstar, Wheloon, Immersea, and Dhedluk.
That’s far from all, as the game experience will allow players to explore the King’s Forest which is filled with ruins and enemy camps.
Collinwood, Tyrluk, Crownpost, Knightswood, Espar, and Minroe are some of the conversion’s smaller visitable towns.
Already, there’s an estimated runtime for Rebirth with the mod promising hours of content.
The mod’s main story will reportedly take you 15 to 20 hours to complete, with side content lasting for over 30 hours. Oh my.

By all accounts the gameplay sounds to run similarly with no major changes there. You can catch a glimpse of what’s in store in the mod’s new teaser trailer.
The only downsides are that, as it stands, Rebirth will feature no voice acting nor romances or companion plots, but I don’t see that as a major loss. This is already incredibly ambitious.
The modding team behind Rebirth is yet to commit to a launch date but there is some good news. Four of the mod’s five chapters have been completed, so I can’t imagine the finish line is too far away.
All side quests are reportedly finished, with the team finishing medium and main quests next.
In fact, in the mod’s FAQs, a target of Q2 2026 is set, so we’re talking April to June.
Given that Divinity is in the region of two or three years away, it’s expected that Rebirth will land first.
It’s early days to talk specifics but in order to get the Rebirth mod working, you will need a copy of Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition.
I’m sure you’re all wondering if it’s free and the answer is yes, so if this has whetted your appetite, I suggest you keep an eye on the mod’s social channels.
