Baldur’s Gate 3 Meets Dark Souls in Free Steam Offering

Combining the turn-based combat of Baldur’s Gate 3 with the worldbuilding of Dark Souls, this free Steam offering will be enough to keep you busy over the festive period.

Added to Steam just yesterday, 1 December, Forsworn is an upcoming roguelite, turn-based tactics adventure set to launch fully in Q3 of 2026.

However, courtesy of a free Steam demo, it is completely free to download and check out right now.

So what is Forsworn?

Developed by Resummon Studios, Forsworn will see players step into a realm torn apart by divine conflict but with every defeat being just the beginning, you will soon learn that no hero fights alone.

By building powerful synergies, you will be able to overcome unforgiving battles and defy fate in a world controlled by the gods themselves.

As with any roguelite, you will take part in various “runs” with each allowing you the opportunity to become stronger.

Much like Baldur’s Gate 3, you will embark on turn-based combat and as you attack, cast spells, or defend, you will gradually build up ultimate power which you can unleash on enemies in a devastating explosion.

Become Stronger With Each Run, and Go Again

With each hero having their own unique ability, you will soon be able to break enemy ranks, empower allies, or unleash overwhelming force.

As you embark on each run and gradually level up, you will be able to learn new abilities, equip powerful items and unlock upgrades.

“Upgrades don’t just raise stats – they evolve abilities, unlock new mechanics, and deepen hero playstyles,” the Steam synopsis for Forsworn reads.

“Victory depends on how you combine your heroes: chain their powers, create devastating synergies, and unlock artifacts that empower your entire party.”

Whether you play solo or with up to three friends in co-op mode, Forsworn is not a game to miss out on and luckily, the brand-new demo has more than enough to get started with.

The demo gives players access to the first act of Forsworn, over 20 possible combat encounters, 70+ items and 150+ unique hero abilities, artifact and item unlocks through in-game achievements, and normal and hard difficulty options.

“Defy Death. Defy the Gods. Save the Realm.”

So if you want to try out a game which combines the best of titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dark Souls, do not miss out on this brand-new addition to Steam.
