With Grand Theft Auto VI on the not-so-distant horizon, it seems as though Rockstar is gearing up for all of the new features that will come alongside the first Grand Theft Auto entry in well over a decade.
The good news is that Grand Theft Auto VI is still on track for a May 2026 launch but the bad news is that this will only be for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users with PC users expected to wait a while longer according to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick.
It will be a difficult extra few months for PC users but fear not, a recent update to the Rockstar Games Launcher is set to benefit them for a little while longer.
In recent days, Rockstar has added an upgrade to the Rockstar Games Launcher for PC users.
Shared by Rockstar insider Tez2 over on Twitter, the new feature, titled Discord Rich Presence, will allow you to share which games you are currently playing on Discord.
“Discord Rich Presence is now available as a setting in the Rockstar Games Launcher to share your rich presence in supported titles,” Tez2 shared.
Up until now, many programmes have used this feature such as Steam, giving your Discord friends the chance to see which games you are currently enjoying.
Now it seems as though Rockstar has jumped on the bandwagon.
If you want to take part in this new feature, Rockstar has provided the following instructions:
- Open the Rockstar Games Launcher
- Select the Settings tab in the Rockstar Games Launcher
- Under General, select Discord Rich Presence to toggle sharing on or off for supported Rockstar Games titles
Not only that but fellow insider PLTytus also had some further information about this new update.
As well as the new Discord integration, users can now choose which launcher to launch their Rockstar game on and, for games installed on the Rockstar Game Launcher, there is now a three-dots menu to uninstall or change some settings.
It is clear that these are just some quality-of-life changes but this could also mean that Rockstar is already implementing new features to get ready for the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.
As we all know, the modding community is only able to work on PC and with Rockstar itself supporting FiveM in order to make the GTA Online roleplaying community better than ever, this new update could hint at the arrival of GTA VI’s version of FiveM. SixM perhaps?
Well, only time will tell and luckily, there are just over eight months to go until Grand Theft Auto VI is finally released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S with its PC version hopefully launching a few months later.
