Ark 2 now has a new release window, but don’t expect it to be out soon, as the new date for the game is a nebulous 2028. Developer Studio Wildcard originally announced the dino-taming survival soulslike game sequel all the way back in 2020, but since then, the project has suffered several delays.
The 2028 date was revealed during publisher Snail Games’ Investor Day held at the NASDAQ Marketsite building in Times Square this week (via the Epic Games Store blog), and the studio also unveiled a new look at the in-game model of Bob, the character who has appeared in multiple Ark projects and is voiced by The Boys star Karl Urban.
Studio co-founder Jeremy Stieglitz revealed a two-year roadmap for Ark: Survival Ascended, which will culminate with the release of Legacy of Santiago, a major expansion that will lay the groundwork for Ark 2 and introduce several new gameplay mechanics coming to the sequel.

It’s interesting to see Ark 2 adjusting its release date to avoid the competition with GTA 6. This could give it a better chance to shine when it finally arrives. Looking forward to seeing how it develops!
You’re right; it’s a smart move for Ark 2 to create some distance from such a massive title. This could give it a better chance to shine and build its own audience without being overshadowed. Plus, with the extra time, they might also improve gameplay and features significantly.
Absolutely, giving Ark 2 some breathing room from GTA 6 could really help it stand out. Plus, it might allow the developers to refine the game further and incorporate player feedback from the first Ark. Itโs exciting to see how theyโll build on the franchise!
You’re right! A two-year gap could definitely give Ark 2 the spotlight it needs. Itโll be interesting to see how the gameplay mechanics evolve in that time, especially with advancements in technology. Hopefully, this extra time leads to a polished and engaging experience!
Absolutely! A two-year gap not only helps Ark 2 avoid direct competition with GTA 6, but it also allows the developers more time to refine the game. Fans are eager for quality, and this extra time could lead to a more polished experience.
