Techtive Games has made some major announcements about its own future and its upcoming open world survival RPG Ardem, including an expansion of the team and the confirmed target for a public playtest. First off, the public playtest is scheduled for August 31st, allowing the team to spend time refining the experience so Ardem is a smooth experience when the playtest launches. Techtive Games has secured additional funding which is allowing the team to be expanded to 15 full time developers, a small welcome in the current environment.
Although a public playtest has been confirmed for Ardem, Techtive Games has also announced that there will be smaller, closed testing which will be under NDA so nothing can be shared from those. Those will be taking place over the next couple of weeks with the focus being on bug finding and level polishing. Testers are encouraged to try and break the game as much as possible during these playtests for Ardem, so the development team can fix them. A new website for Ardem is being developed too which will be the home for all future updates, including the official Ardem road map.
Ardem is a survival game set years after the collapse of civilisation which came around due to a fast spreading virus, which turned most people into mutated beings filled with hunger and rage. Players can go it alone or team up with others to scavenge for items and rebuild small points of civilisation within a 64 kmΒ² map that has been crafted by the devs, with hundreds of points of interest. Online servers will host up to 64 players per world, with player actions permanently altering the server world. There will be plenty of dangers to face with various enemy types, along with a battle to survive as you will need to look for or grow food. The weather and temperature will also impact your survival as you will need to dress correctly to face the changing environment.
