After a successful launch, ARC Raiders will now have to prove itself in the long term by releasing new content on a regular basis. Fortunately, Embark Studios seems to have everything planned out.
In an interview with GamesRadar, design lead Virgil Watkins discussed the rollout of new maps in ARC Raiders. In addition to offering players brand new playgrounds, these maps are designed to deliver different ways to play with innovative options for participants. For example, zip lines may be introduced to allow for faster movement. Tools such as sound devices and even mines also have the potential to change the game.
Watkins also teased the arrival of several new maps throughout 2026.
“There are going to be multiple maps coming this year, and I think it’s going to be across a spectrum of size to try to facilitate different types of gameplay. So you might see some that are smaller, and you might see some that are even grander than what we’ve got now.”
Finally, developers take several parameters into consideration when designing a map, such as the number of spawn points, travel time, zone transformation speed, and loot dispersion and concentration.
