Animal Crossing Lovers, Don’t Miss This Steam Freebie

This brand-new Steam download is already striking a chord with players (mostly because there’s a whole bunch of different animals that you can pet).

You know, now that I think about it, it’s kind of weird that nobody has successfully beaten Animal Crossing at its own game yet.

Don’t get me wrong, the Animal Crossing games are great– it just feels like a true competitor to the franchise is a gap in the market.

Thankfully, plenty of indie developers are constantly taking a swing at the formula, and today’s example might be one of the closest to nailing it that I’ve seen in quite some time.

Mazey Village is an upcoming cosy puzzle and adventure game on Steam from developer and publisher Slappy Inc., and it just got a brand new demo for you to try out.

As of writing, there aren’t enough reviews on the demo’s page for a score consensus, but all of the reviews you can read are glowing with praise.

“This game went straight to my wishlist. From the demo, it seems cozy without being too repetitive, and it strikes that balance between being relaxing but also interesting enough”, writes Steam reviewer mecha.

“The puzzles are a unique mechanic (for me, at least) but they fit well in the overall story of the game. The graphics are incredibly cute. And, of course, the most important part: you can pet all these cute animals (cats, chicken, cows, bunnies) and they will follow you around.”

“I’ve been following this project for a while now. This once started as a puzzle game and now evolved into a cozy game”, commented Steam user Kefke.

“I’m usually not a big cozy gamer, but I must admit that the adorable art-style managed to win me over. I feel this is a game you could play if you got a spare 15 minutes, but can also keep playing for way longer. This combined with low skill level requirements allow it to be the perfect game to wind down with after a long day. And let’s not forget that you can pet a lot of the animals so they follow you around, which I also loved.”

No exact word on a release date yet, but the demo does seem to be a pretty polished experience.

I highly suggest adding this one to your wishlist if you like the demo, because we will probably only find out when this one is going to drop very close to its actual release date.
