According to Bobby Kotick, Battlefield is responsible for the 60% drop in Call of Duty sales

According to an article by Gamefile, former Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick claimed in a legal filing that Call of Duty sales in 2025 fell by about 60% compared to 2024, mainly due to increased competition from titles such as Battlefield.

According to him, this decline calls into question the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) argument that there is not enough competition in the FPS genre, a central point in the debate surrounding Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision.

Kotick also criticized Activision’s current management since his departure, claiming that the flagship franchise is no longer meeting its goals. Battlefield 6 and other competitors have captured a share of the FPS market, which has reportedly hurt Call of Duty’s performance.
