An acclaimed 2019 PS4 game has received a free PS5 upgrade for existing owners as well as PS Plus Extra members. Stellaris: Console Edition‘s current-gen port offers 4K resolution and improved performance, among other features.

Those who purchased Stellaris on PS4 can head over to the PS Store and claim their free upgrade. PS Plus Extra users will find the new edition in the catalog, as it has replaced the original version. Those who downloaded the 2017 version will need to redownload.
Publisher Paradox Interactive has confirmed that all previously purchased DLC can be carried over to the PS5 upgrade.
In addition to 4K support and performance improvements, Stellaris PS5 upgrade takes “full advantage of the advanced hardware and optimization on modern consoles,” per Paradox. Players will also see “more galaxy setup options than ever before.”
For the uninitiated, Stellaris is a 4X grand strategy game set in 2200 AD.
“Behold the enormity of space with procedurally generated galaxies with an untold number of planets to explore,” reads an official overview. “Encounter a myriad of wild, wacky, and dangerous alien races who may prove to be crucial trade partners or conquering forces hellbent on enslaving your civilization.”
Stellaris’ latest expansion, The Machine Age, is also available now as part of Season 8.
