In October 2024, Game Freakwas hit with a massive data breach that caused nearly 1 terabyte of internal data from the company’s servers to be leaked online. The data contained the personal information and contact details of over 2,000 employees who worked at Game Freak, and it also included confidential files that were used in the production of various Pokemon projects, seemingly including Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Source code, concept art, and even design documents for games that were released within the last 25 years were all included in the leaked materials. This data breach, which later became known as the Teraleak, was devastating for the hard-working developers at Game Freak, but it did give fans some insight into the company’s future plans for Pokemon Legends: Z-A and more.
