A leak of the FSR4 source code allows support on RX 7000 and RTX 30

AMD accidentally published the FSR4 source code, including an INT8 version that was not initially intended for public release. The repository was quickly removed, but the files circulated long enough for modders to retrieve them.

According to initial tests shared on Reddit, this version offers superior visual quality to FSR 3.1, but at the cost of higher processing time (1.9 ms vs. 0.6 ms on an RTX 3060 Ti). Whereas the official version is based on FP8, which is reserved for RDNA4 cards, this INT8 version works on the RX 7000 series as well as on certain RTX 30 series cards. The RX 6000 series, on the other hand, remains incompatible.

Users have already shown FSR4 in action on Cyberpunk 2077, with an RX 7900 XTX via OptiScaler, or by directly sharing precompiled DLLs. However, all this comes at the expense of performance, and without any guarantee, since AMD never announced support for FSR4 on RX 70.
