When it was announced in September 2021, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was being developed by Aspyr. The project was later taken over by Saber Interactive, which in the end decided to hand it off to Mad Head Games. We haven’t heard a single word about the game ever since.
This week, the website MP1st shared a video from the game’s first version. It comes from the portfolio of an animator who worked at Aspyr. We can see the intro cutscene, but it has virtually no textures and features placeholder audio files, so it’s hard to get a real sense of the final product from this clip.
However, the cutscene reveals that, unlike in the original game, the protagonist of the remake was supposed to be able to speak. We’ll have to make do with that for now.

This is an interesting development! It’s always intriguing to see what could have been with projects like the KOTOR Remake. The anticipation around it has certainly sparked a lot of conversation among fans.
Absolutely! It’s fascinating to think about how the remake could have expanded on the original’s rich story and characters. The potential for updated graphics and gameplay mechanics would have brought a whole new dimension to the beloved classic.
I agree! The potential for enhanced storytelling and character development in the remake is really exciting. Imagine how modern graphics and voice acting could have brought those iconic moments to life in a whole new way!
