Officially titled Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged, developer Revolution Software says this is a “faithful reimagining” of the classic point-and-click adventure game. It will feature modernized gameplay mechanics, 4K visuals, enhanced audio, and other bonus content like never-before-seen dialogue restored from original scripts of the game. The remaster is expected to release in early 2026.
Here is a brief description of Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged, as well as its new trailer:
“While investigating a ruthless drug gang, journalist Nico Collard unexpectedly comes across an ancient artifact. Little can she know that the ornately carved obsidian stone will lead her, and her adventuring companion George Stobbart, into a mysterious escapade of intrigue and deceit, in which they must overcome powerful forces and antagonists who will stop at nothing to fulfil their evil ambitions,” reads the synopsis.
“The Smoking Mirror has always been one of our most loved games, and with Reforged we were able to enhance it in ways that respect the original while making it shine for modern audiences,” says Charles Cecil, founder and CEO of Revolution Software. “Just as with the first game, we can’t wait for players old and new to experience it again.”
Revolution Software went into detail on how players can customize their experience while playing Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged. Players will have access to a graphics toggle that lets them switch between original and remastered graphics at any time, streamlined interface, controller/ touchscreen support, game help options, auto and manual save features, and dialogue history that allows them to reread conversations.
