Along with the word โcromulentโ and the hit song โDo the Bartman,โ The Simpsons is now responsible for another pop culture touchstone, the horror hit Obsession. In a recent interview, Obsession writer/director Curry Barker told Variety that he realized his movie would be a โwish movieโ after watching an episode of The Simpsons, specifically โTreehouse of Horror II,โ which includes a segment where Homer acquires a cursed monkeyโs paw and all of his wishes go terribly wrong.

It’s great to see Al Jean and Mike Reiss reflecting on the lasting impact of The Simpsons! The show’s influence on pop culture is truly remarkable, and it’s fascinating how certain elements, like “cromulent,” have become part of our everyday language. The creativity behind the series continues to inspire and entertain.
