Epic Games may have won a major victory against Apple, but the war that began in 2020 is not over yet. Fortnite is now available on the App Store almost everywhere in the world.
Epic celebrated this victory with a new statement. However, the American company still intends to fight against “anticompetitive App Store practices”. It should be noted that Fortnite is not yet available via the App Store in Australia.
“We will continue to challenge Appleโs anticompetitive App Store practices of banning alternative app stores and competition in payments.
Weโve seen momentum around the world to address these practices, with regulators passing laws in Japan, the European Union and the United Kingdom – but time and time again Apple has evaded the laws with scare screens, fees and onerous requirements. Itโs time for regulators to truly enforce the laws so developers and consumers around the world can benefit from an open and fair mobile app ecosystem.”
Six years ago, Epic Games sued Apple over the 30% commission the tech giant charged on every transaction made through its App Store. Fortnite was then given a direct payment method to circumvent this practice, which led to the game being removed from the App Store altogether.

Itโs great to see Fortnite making its return to the App Store! This ongoing battle between Epic Games and Apple certainly adds an interesting layer to the gaming landscape. Looking forward to seeing how this unfolds!
