Cozy RPG Will Easily Rival Hogwarts Legacy, Confirms 2026 Release

Hogwarts Legacy is easily the best interpretation of the Wizarding World within the sphere of gaming.

You can understand why fans are clamouring for a sequel, and it’s expected that an announcement could be made very soon ahead of a 2027 launch.

The arrival of a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy could coincide with the conclusion of the first season of HBO’s Harry Potter TV show, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

If this indeed the plan for the game, the highly anticipated follow-up is set to arrive sooner than many fans imagined, but that won’t make the wait for 2027 any easier.

There are, however, worthy alternatives that you could fill your time with before then.

Admittedly, there aren’t many magical games that could go head-to-head with Hogwarts Legacy, but Witchbrook most definitely looks set to be one of them.

Witchbrook is Coming To PC, Nintendo Switch Consoles, And Xbox

The upcoming magical RPG originally entered development over a decade ago, so it’s certainly been a long time coming.

Designed for up to four-players, within Witchbrook players move to the bustling seaside city of Mossport as the location’s newest resident witch.

“Make friends, find love, and discover a world filled with wonder and charm on the road to graduation and beyond,” the synopsis teases.

Witchbrook boasts a gorgeous pixel art style, much like Stardew Valley, and sees you partake in plenty of cosy fare, including learning spells, decorating your humble abode, foraging for resources, and more.

“The city of Mossport is a living, breathing world; teeming with life, even when you’re not looking,” devs tease.

“From cityfolk with intricate and unique daily routines, to community events that mark the changing of the seasons.

“Just like you, your coven, teachers, and the cityfolk all lead busy lives! Every character has their own unique schedule, whether they’re working in one of Mossport’s many businesses, having a drink at the pub, cramming for their next exam in the college library or joining in with the festivities at the seasonal events.”

Witchbrook is confirmed to be coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox with the last trailer arriving during a 2025 Nintendo Direct.

Gamers have heard very little since then about the title but devs Chucklefish have just quietly surfaced with an update on the game’s Discord which was later shared to Reddit by user lelianavarric.

“We won’t be announcing a specific date until we’re completely confident and happy with where the game is, but we’re still aiming for a 2026 release,” the update said.

“We know it’s been a long wait, and we really appreciate your patience, our priority is making sure the quality is exactly where Witchbrook needs to be when it finally arrives.”

With that in mind, it sounds like Witchbrook will most likely be targeting a late 2026 launch, and plenty of people aren’t too thrilled about it.

“We’ll get GTA VI before Witchbrook,” read one comment.

“I might have my firstborn child before this game releases (I’m single),” added another.
