The Witcher fans who enjoy the original books can check out this free quest for The Witcher 3 which adapts the events of The Last Wish.
As we wait for The Witcher 4âwhich still seems to be a few years away at the very leastâfans have been given plenty of reasons to revisit The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt time and time again.
CD Projekt Red has released a plethora of free and paid content for The Witcher 3 over the years, including next-gen versions of the game back in 2022 and an alleged upcoming expansion to tie into the sequel.
However, fans have also expanded upon the game with a range of mods you can install which tweak the experience to your liking.
And thatâs where modder Samuel Ch comes in, who has adapted the events of The Last Wish as an in-game quest you can download now.
As fans of the books by Andrzej Sapkowski will know, The Last Wish is a collection of short stories set in the Witcher universe all featuring Geralt of Rivia reflecting on his past adventures as he rests in a temple.
The Last Wish Project, on the other hand, is a mod which adds these stories as their own quests into The Witcher 3.
Currently in alpha, the mod features the story âThe Lesser Evilâ (which is canonically the third story that appears in Sapkowskiâs book) and showcases the vision of the project.

The Last Wish Is Where The Witcher Series Begins
As Samuel Ch puts it, the mod will eventually feature all the stories found within The Last Wish one at a time, presented in the same way as they are in the book using a âsolid and faithful skeletonâ. Presumably, this means the quests will be done as flashbacks to Geraltâs earlier life.
Samuel Châs philosophy for the project is also for it to be âdesigned as an action adventure which compliments the books, not an RPG,â so expect it to play a little differently as opposed to the base game version of The Witcher 3.
âThe art of The Witcher kindled a truly European sensitivity in the medium, which felt home to me. I fell in love with it way back as a child, and when the first editor came out many years ago, I spent thousands upon thousands of hours in it,â writes Samuel Ch on the projectâs website.
âIt had been my entry to plenty of things and disciplines. Many years have passed since then, I never thought I would return to REDKit and did not really anticipate the release of the new editor.
âScrubbing through the pages of Sapkowskis book though and getting lost in remaking this beautiful book felt like a retreat, where I could, express my passions and meet the good people from The Witcher community.â
If youâd like to check out the alpha build of The Last Wish Project, be sure to download it from its official website or from The Witcher 3: Wild Huntâs Nexus Mods page.
