Sony has filed a patent for a controller with deformable buttons

PlayStation controllers have evolved significantly over the past two console generations. The PS5โ€™s DualSense introduced groundbreaking features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

On the PS6, Sony could spark a new revolution with an even more astonishing controller. Indeed, the Japanese company recently filed a patent for a device featuring deformable buttons. The buttons could be twisted, pinched, raised, or pressed down.

Furthermore, these buttons will be interconnected by axes to form a grid. They would then be capable of transmitting sensations related to impact, force, or weight, similar to haptic feedback. This would enhance the userโ€™s immersion.

We could feel various effects, such as the sensation of waves, gunshots, earthquakes, or even footsteps, directly through the controllerโ€™s buttons.
