The Splinter Cell Remake is still alive, but Ubisoft Toronto has fired 40 people

Although we haven’t heard anything about the project since it was officially announced in December 2021, the remake of Splinter Cell still seems to be in development. This is despite the current extremely tense situation at Ubisoft…

The French publisher confirmed this week that it has laid off 40 people at its Toronto studio. Ubisoft then confirmed to the MobileSyrup website that Splinter Cell Remake is not affected by this decision.

“This decision was not taken lightly and in no way reflects on the talent, dedication, or contribution of the individuals involved. Our priority now is to support them through this transition with comprehensive severance packages and a robust career transition program.”

An email sent to Ubisoft Toronto employees also states that the studio will remain a “key contributor to several development projects and service teams”.
