
Back in 1984, Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin founded JAM Software, which later became Naughty Dog. After leaving the studio in 2004, Rubin gained a wealth of professional experience before finally landing at Facebook (Meta) in May 2014.
So, about 11 years later, Jason Rubin, who was the current vice president of Meta Creative, made his departure official amid a crisis for the company’s VR division. The division recorded heavy losses in 2025 and decided to close several of its studios. The strategy has been refocused on Reality Labs’ glasses and connected devices.
On X, Rubin posted a message thanking Meta’s executives and paying tribute to his teams. He now wants to focus on his passion for wildlife photography.
