A new Baldur’s Gate 3 mod has restored over a thousand cut lines from the early access version of the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has been one of the best RPGs of the last few years, but its popularity didn’t really take off until it left early access in August 2023.
When the game hit that treasured 1.0 release, many scenes from the early access version were cut as they did not fit the desired final quality of the game that Larian Studios intended.
As such, hundreds of scenes were cut from the game, many of these featuring conversations with companions which didn’t necessarily fit with their personalities in the final release.
Wyll and Gale have famously been the result of these cuts, but there are many random interactions and conversations with other characters which also didn’t make it into the full game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Cut Scenes Have Been Restored
It’s irked enough fans that one Baldur’s Gate 3 modder has even gone to the trouble of restoring some of these early access scenes into the full game.
Early Access Scenes Restored by HyperspaceTowel adds over a hundred scenes that appeared in the game during early access but were cut for the final game, with more than 1,000 lines being restored overall.
Many of these cut scenes include companion reactions to events and conversations that occur during the game’s story, fleshing them out in a way that the full game doesn’t do.

HyperspaceTowel has made sure that everything added back in with the mod is lore friendly, meaning that it doesn’t include things like the Dream Visitor, as well as early access versions of Karlach and Wyll. It also doesn’t restore the romance between Gale and Wyll from early access.
However, it does include restored interactions for more NPC encounters and camp events, enhanced reactivity, and more approvals or disapprovals from companions. HyperspaceTowel has even added some of their own scenes made from scratch.
In particular, Astarion, Gale, Lae’zel, and Shadowheart have received the most cut content, but Karlach and Wyll have also got new scenes too. A full breakdown can be found on the mod’s download page, but be warned that it includes spoilers.
If you’d like to download the Early Access Scenes Restored mod for Baldur’s Gate 3, you can do so by downloading it from Nexus Mods.
Be warned that while the mod is lore friendly, it’s recommended to be used after you’ve completed the game once.
