The Fable reboot will not feature the dog as a companion

The dog was a a true icon of the franchise with its central role in Fable 2 and Fable 3: a loyal companion to our character. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to count on our four-legged friend’s presence in the reboot.

In an interview with IGN, Ralph Fulton of Playground Games discussed this absence. He said that he himself decided to remove the dog from the game and that some of his colleagues still hold it against him today. This removal is related to “development reasons”.

“Yeah. I did know I was going to get this question. And do you know what? There are some folks on the team that were relishing me getting this question because I cut it a while back. You know what? For development reasons, right? I don’t need to go into any more detail than that, except to say there are a substantial number of people on the team who have yet to forgive me for that decision.”

Fable will be released in fall 2026 on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC.
