The Boruto series has introduced fans to many new incredible powers, such as the power of Karma, and, of course, the introduction of the Otsutsuki, among other things. It goes without saying that with a new generation of characters, Boruto needed a new direction as well as a new power system. Simply relying on the old power system was not good enough for a new manga, and that needed an overhaul.
