Netflix entrusts the Assassin’s Creed series to the Cernobyl director

According to a report in Variety, Netflix is moving forward with the development of its live-action series Assassin’s Creed, confirming the recruitment of director Johan Renck, known for the series Chernobyl, to helm the project. The Swedish director has also worked on series such as Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, bringing a prestigious profile to the adaptation.

The series is being developed as part of a partnership between Netflix and Ubisoft, with Roberto Patino and David Wiener as creators and showrunners. According to the available synopsis, the story will focus on a secret war between two mysterious factions, one seeking to manipulate the future of humanity and the other to preserve free will. The cast already includes names such as Toby Wallace, who was previously announced in a leading role.
