Fallout: London Free DLC Will Fill The Fallout 5 Gap In Your Life

Fallout: London, one of the most ambitious mods ever, has received free DLC to help fill that Fallout 5 void.

Since the 1990s, long before Bethesda Softworks’ parent company, ZeniMax Media acquired the license, the post-apocalyptic RPG series, Fallout, has been one of the most popular franchises in video game history.

However, it’s fair to say that the first game released by Bethesda, that being Fallout 3, arguably evolved the series for the better, moving from its trimetric perspective to a fully 3D world. I appreciate the trimetric perspective, but I felt that exploring a vast 3D wasteland, with deeper dialogue choices, and enhanced combat, not to mention the choice of first and third-person perspectives, had taken immersion for the series to the next level.

From that moment forth, whether it’s Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4 or even the vastly improved MMORPG, Fallout 76, the series has never been more popular.

The popularity of the Bethesda series, no doubt, had a lot to do with the success of the live-action series from Amazon Studios, with fans now looking forward to Fallout season 2, arriving later this year.

That being said, not taking into account last year’s free new-gen update or Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, which releases next week, the last mainline entry in the series is Fallout 4, released a decade ago in 2015.

So, despite being a decade old, how does Fallout 4 retain such a large player base to this day? Well, other than being a fantastic game, much of the credit goes to the ever-vibrant modding community.

Whether it’s new quests, NPCs, weapons, visual and performance issues or bug fixes, modders have you covered, and there aren’t many games as well supported as Fallout 4.

Perhaps the most ambitious mod for Fallout 4 is the free, Fallout: London, created by Team Folon, which began its development in 2019, before it was finally released last year.

What is Fallout: London?

Fallout: London is an ambitious, trail-blazing DLC-sized mod for Fallout 4, Bethesda Game Studios’ 2015 post-apocalyptic RPG. Fallout: London stands apart from its contemporaries and offers an entirely new experience: setting a Fallout game outside of the United States,” reads the description of the mod.

“True to its moniker, Fallout: London takes place IN London. From stuffy parliamentary aristocrats to a resurrection of the Knights of the Round Table to an uncompromising cult of revolutionaries (and more!), Fallout: London embodies the history and aesthetics of London and puts an unmistakably nuclear spin on the beloved city.”

If you thought that the work of Fallout: London had ended, then think again. It just received the free ‘Rabbit & Pork DLC’ that adds 70 new random encounters, 80 new NPCs, 8,000 lines of new dialogue, and more.

Sadly, as is the nature of most mods, Fallout: London is exclusive to PC due to the large scale and ambition of the content.

For the rest of us at least, we can still enjoy Fallout 4, with a wealth of other mods on PC, PlayStation and Xbox courtesy of the Creation Club. However, the number of mods available on PlayStation has been restricted by Sony.

Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition arrives on 10 November for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, then for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. Fallout 5 hasn’t been officially announced yet.
