Priced at โฌ599 and โฌ899 respectively in Europe, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X have received got very positive reviews. Among the flaws regularly highlighted by users of these machines is, of course, the price, which is considered very high.
In the United States, the ROG Xbox Ally X even reaches the symbolic $1,000 mark. So much so that Sarah Bond, president of Xbox, had to explain herself. For her, the explanation is obvious. It wasn’t Microsoft that set these prices, but ASUS.
“We asked ourselves how we could create multiple options for people. And it was really ASUS who made the choice, because it’s their hardware. It was their expertise in the market, in all the features, in what people want, that determined the final prices of the devices.”
Despite these prices, Bond still reported that the ROG Xbox Ally was sold out when it was released on the Xbox Store. The brand’s CEO also reaffirmed her intention to promote these two devices in the run-up to the holiday season.
