A six-month-old game is receiving a free PS5 and PS4 upgrade due to an unusual reason: its publisher wanted to add a Platinum trophy. Argonaut Games says that when it launched Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster, it didnât include enough trophies to qualify for a Platinum trophy, and itâs now rectifying that.

Apparently, Sony doesnât allow developers to âfixâ the lack of a Platinum trophy with a patch, so Argonaut is having to replace the original listing with a new SKU on the PS Store, and existing owners will be entitled to the free upgrade.
More trophies and a Platinum arenât the only things being added to Croc: Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition, though. Players are also getting the following:
- A new time trial gameplay mode called Time Attack
- Over 25 new additions to the Crocipedia.
- The ability to toggle between different Croc Main Theme mixes in the main menu.
- A bunch of bug fixes were squashed. Ker-Splat!
- A handful of quality-of-life features and improvements.
Argonaut didnât mention any price changes for new buyers, so we donât expect the Platinum Edition to cost more than $29.99.
As for when the upgrade will drop, PS5 and PS4 players will be able to see the listing on October 16 as a new edition that they can download and play separately.
