Two weeks before its worldwide launch, IO Interactive has announced that 007 First Light has gone gold. Principle development is complete as the game will be sent to physical disc manufacturers and online stores for certification, though youād best believe that a day-one patch is in the works. After all, youāll need to download it to play offline.
Regardless, itās a significant milestone for IOI, which delayed the action-adventure by two months for more polish. It would go on to delay the Nintendo Switch 2 version again to later this Summer, noting that it needed a ābit more timeā to ensure its quality.
Launching on May 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, 007 First Light serves as a new origin story for James Bond, who goes from the Royal Navy to joining MI6 as part of its 00 program. Throughout his journey, heāll slowly transform across the 20-hour campaign from a brash and impulsive young agent to the charming yet calculating agent of legend.
And while IOI is leveraging its various learnings from Hitman for the stealth and sandbox design of some areas, itās tapping into Bondās character to introduce systems like bluffing, close-quarters combat, and shooting.
