Ahead of Sony and Nintendo, Microsoft has locked in its big summer Xbox presentation, though it’s so far only confirmed one game for it.
After the most recent Xbox showcase, which focused entirely on third-party announcements, Microsoft has already set a date for its annual summer presentation.
The announcement comes directly from Asha Sharma, the new president of Xbox who took over from Phil Spencer just last month and, much like her announcement for the new Project Helix console, she’s shared this via a simple social media post.
Details on what will be shown are obviously scarce, but the headline act will be Gears Of War prequel game Gears Of War: E-Day, which is supposed to be launching later this year.
When is the Xbox summer showcase?
The Xbox Games Showcase is scheduled for Sunday, June 7 at 6pm BST, so it will line up with Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest event, which runs from June 5 to June 8 this year.

An accompanying Xbox Wire post promises ‘first gameplay looks and huge news on upcoming titles from our first-party studios across the Xbox family, as well as our third-party partners around the globe,’ but refrains from naming any examples besides Gears Of War: E-Day.
In fact, Gears Of War is such a huge focus of the event that it’s being segmented into a separate presentation that will air right after the general showcase wraps up.
This will be the first real update on the game since its 2024 reveal, which only consisted of a cinematic trailer confirming its status as a prequel rather than a follow-up to 2019’s Gears 5, which ended on quite the cliffhanger.
E-Day was completely absent from last year’s showcase, with Phil Spencer only suggesting that it was aiming for a 2026 release alongside the next Forza Horizon and Fable games.
With the January showcase confirming the former for May 19 and the latter for autumn, E-Day should get a firm release date, as long as Microsoft is still aiming to have it out this year, alongside actual gameplay .

As for what else could be shown, the Halo: Combat Evolved remake (which is also due this year) is bound to make an appearance as well as the newly announced Minecraft Dungeons sequel.
Perhaps Bethesda will finally have something to show of The Elder Scrolls 6 or, alternatively, admit to that Fallout 3 remaster that’s long been rumoured.
Whatever the case, this showcase will hopefully be a big one since 2026 also marks the 25th year of the Xbox brand; something Microsoft seems keen on celebrating.
That’s why it’s also bringing back its Xbox FanFest community event alongside the showcase, though it will only be held in person in Los Angeles.
