With the layoffs at Turn 10 Studios, many observers thought the Forza Motorsport franchise would be abandoned. Fortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
In his interview with Famitsu, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, clearly stated that the racing simulation franchise is not dead. The American company simply wants to focus on titles with a closer release date. This is particularly the case for Forza Horizon 6, which will be released in 2026.
Β« When it comes to Forza Motorsport, we sometimes have to focus on games that need to be released sooner. We understand the reaction many people had when we reduced the workforce at Turn 10 Studios.
We have many games that we want to support carefully, and we sometimes give development teams more time to avoid putting them under constant pressure. Our current structure, with multiple studios, allows us that flexibility.
Xbox Game Studios comprises more than 20 studios, each with multiple games in development and requiring varying levels of support. Some projects require short-term attention, while others require a medium -to long- term perspective. We really want the games we publish to succeed. Xbox Game Studios has many titles in development, so stay tuned. Β»
