Microsoft is seemingly getting ready to unveil more titles coming to its Xbox line-up of systems. According to prolific leaker NateTheHate, the company is planning a Partner Showcase event where it will reveal some of the third-party games that are coming to Xbox Series X/S. While few details about this have been confirmed, it will also likely feature titles coming to the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handhelds through the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative.
When asked about whether there has been any update regarding an Xbox Partner Showcase slated for November, NateTheHate responded on social media by saying that an “announcement for it is very soon.” On further questions about what kinds of announcements can be expected during the showcase, he brought up the Silent Hill 2 remake as one of the big subjects of the event.
What “very soon” means in this context is anyone’s guess, but chances are that Microsoft will officially announce this Xbox Partner Showcase sometime this week. The showcase will reportedly take place either later this week or next week before the end of November.
As for the Silent Hill 2 remake, a listing for the title had reportedly popped up on the Microsoft Store’s back-end earlier this month, indicating a release for Xbox Series X/S on November 21. The listing also indicated a Deluxe Edition, which would include bonuses like a digital art book and the soundtrack. Since the listing had Xbox Series X/S and PC as its platforms, it could be an Xbox Play Anywhere title (or at least feature a PC version native to the storefront).
Rumours of Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake coming to Xbox Series X/S had first popped up back in October, when updates made to the game’s official website were noticed that included a couple of new blank elements for where the game’s platforms are listed. These blank elements are assumed to be further updated once the Xbox release is officially announced.
These rumours started getting more credible because a listing for Silent Hill 2 for Xbox Series X/S was spotted on the official website for the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
While Silent Hill 2 itself is all but confirmed as coming to Xbox Series X/S, there have also been questions about a DLC, dubbed Born from a Wish. Bloober Team itself is yet to confirm anything about the rumoured DLC, but it was seemingly teased by narrative designer Grzegorz Like. The DLC may be officially unveiled closer to the theatrical release of the film Return to Silent Hill, which is based on Silent Hill 2.
Since its original release on PS5 and PC last year, Konami has confirmed that the Silent Hill 2 remake has been quite successful, topping 2.5 million sales worldwide. A later update to the official Konami website also revealed that the Silent Hill franchise has overall sold 13 million copies since the franchise’s debut back in 1999.
