Xbox Game Pass confirms that it’s adding nine free games this month, including a day-one treat. Happy days!
Towards the end of last year, Microsoft controversially raised the price of the tiers in its popular Xbox Game Pass subscription service. In some regions, that price increase was as much as a whopping 50%.
With this sudden price increase, many were quick to cancel their Xbox Game Pass subscription or, at the very least, lower the tier, and it’s totally understandable why they did that.
That being said, to play devil’s advocate, the price changes coincided with a revision of the Xbox Game Pass tiers. For example, the Ultimate tier will now receive a ton more games throughout the year, as well as plenty of other incentives.
Xbox Game Pass Gets Treated to 9 More New Games This Month
As revealed on Xbox Wire, across all available tiers, Game Pass is getting nine additional games this month, including a day-one release. That day-one release is MIO: Memories in Orbit, developed by Douze Dixièmes and published by Focus Entertainment.
“Play as android MIO in this mesmerising metroidvania where you explore the Vessel, an enormous technological ark overgrown with machines gone rogue. Uncover its secrets, enhance MIO’s abilities, and save the spaceship and its residents from oblivion,” reads the description of the game.
MIO: Memories in Orbit will arrive on PC, Xbox Series X/S, cloud and handheld on 20 January 2026.

What Else Is Coming to Xbox Game Pass in January 2026?
My personal favourite of this month’s line-up has to be Resident Evil Village released in 2021, one of the best horror games of that year. Resident Evil Village is the conclusion of the Ethan Winters saga and also features one of the most iconic villains in the series, none other than Lady Dimitrescu.
Speaking of Lady Dimitrescu, I recently had the opportunity to speak with the actor behind the enchanting character, Maggie Robertson. In our interview, we spoke about the fans’ love for her character, the Resident Evil community, and the loss of a dear friend.
Alongside Resident Evil Village, which lands on 20 January on Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass, we’re also getting the following:
- Atomfall (PC, cloud, handheld and Xbox Series X/S) for Game Pass Premium – available now.
- Lost in Random: The Eternal Die (PC, cloud, handheld and Xbox Series X/S) for Game Pass Premium – available now.
- Rematch (PC, cloud and Xbox Series X/S) for Game Pass Premium – available now.
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition (PC, cloud and Xbox Series X/S) for Game Pass Premium – available now.
- Final Fantasy (PC, cloud and Xbox Series X/S) for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, PC Game Pass – available 9 January.
- Star Wars Outlaws (PC, cloud and Xbox Series X/S) for Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass – available 13 January.
- My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery (PC, cloud, handheld and Xbox Series X/S) for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass – available 15 January.
Hopefully, at least one of the above will tickle your fancy.
