World of Warcraft’s Midnight expansion is making major changes to simplify classes and eliminate the need for player-made mods, but it’s not because a console version is in the works.
That’s according to WoW senior game director Ion Hazzikostas in a new interview with the Unshackled Fury podcast, where Hazzikostas tried to put recent rumors about a console port to bed.
“To be fully transparent, there’s no reason for us to hide anything about this,” Hazzikostas said. “If we were actively working towards bringing WoW to consoles, or a bunch of other platforms, we’d be saying, ‘We’re actively working towards it, we know we have a lot of work to do but it’s a place where we want to land.'”

It’s interesting to see the direction World of Warcraft is taking with the Midnight expansion. Simplifying classes could really change the gameplay experience for many players. Looking forward to seeing how the community reacts to these updates!
