Uncharted and The Last of Us fans will want to tune into The Game Awards this week to check out this new release.
Naughty Dog is one of the most prominent names in the video game industry, gracing us with the likes of Crash Bandicoot, Uncharted, The Last of Us and much more. Currently, the face of the company is its head of creative and co-president, Neil Druckmann.
However, even with the talents of Druckmann, Naughty Dog wouldn’t be where it is today without its talented team of developers over the years. Two of the other notable names alongside Druckmann are Amy Hennig and Bruce Straley. The latter of which is today’s topic of discussion.
Bruce Straley is an Industry Legend
After working at Crystal Dynamics, Bruce Straley was hired by Naughty Dog in 1999. Working his way up the career ladder within the company, he would help create the likes of the Uncharted and The Last of Us series.
In September 2017, after becoming a lead developer and director at Naughty Dog, Straley left the company to become a founder of a new development studio, Wildflower Interactive, which was announced in March 2021.
Since that time, we’ve not heard a great deal about what the first game from Wildflower Interactive will be. But it seems that the wait will soon be over at The Game Awards tomorrow, as teased by its host, Geoff Keighley.
In a tweet shared by Geoff, we see a short animated clip of some woodland. It doesn’t reveal all that much, but it did give some medieval indie vibes. I’ll guess we’ll just have to be a little patient to see what it’s all about.

It certainly looks like a big departure from what we’re used to from Bruce Straley, which is great to see, and I’d imagine the big reason why he had left Naughty Dog was for this very reason.
What Will This New Game be?
The Game Awards will take place on Thursday, 11 December.
So if, like many of us who live in the UK, Friday morning will be an early start with a cup of tea in hand, getting ready to watch all the trailers that aired during the early hours.
One of the best things about those kinds of moments is seeing a brand new game we never expected to see, which, in some way, is a shame that Geoff announces things like this on Twitter.
But it is what it is.
That being said, the fact that I know Resident Evil Requiem and something Tomb Raider related will be at the show, it’s got me extra hyped. So thanks, Geoff, I suppose.
