Blood West is a first-person shooter that blends Western stories with horror. Released in December 2023, the game was recently offered to Epic Games Store users for free. This free offer caused an unexpected phenomenon.
According to the CEO of publisher New Blood Interactive, on the day Blood West was offered on EGS during the holiday season, its sales jumped 200% on Steam. He then joked about the situation.
“I used to think EGS was a Marketing Black Hole but turns out having your game be free on Epic is great advertising for Steam sales!”
Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, was nevertheless delighted by this, stating that this advantage of his store “increases the visibility of games on all platforms.”
