It’s been the Easter holidays around our house, so sleepy kids and days out have been the order of the day, with a smidgen of gaming here and there when everyone is recovering from being out in the fresh air. I had a fun time with People of Note this week, a music-based RPG that gives a nod to turn-based classics of old, while adding a touch of High School Musical/The Greatest Showman to proceedings.
Aran has been playing Hades 2, saying, “It has really got its claws into me. Just really having fun with it. I’ve also started Dosa Divas for review. That will be out next week!”
Good things come to those who wait, and in Gamoc’s case, that’s Starfield on PS5, which he’s busy putting together a review for. Alongside that he’s played Icarus, Ghost Master Resurrected, and some more Crimson Desert. He also played Resi Requiem, but it’s slow going as he told us, “I have to take breaks because I’m a coward.”
Nic B plat’d Requiem, and told us, “It was a blast. Infinite Requiem bullets are great fun. After that, I moved on to Spider-Man 2, which I’m playing with my wife in the evenings. It’s a stunning game to be sure.”
Steve has been on a welcome investigative horror ride with both The Occultist and Cthulhu: Dark Abyss. He told us, “I really enjoyed the first one and there is a lot to like about the second but it has a few non-intuitive aspects that might make it a chore if you don’t gel with it. I also got to play the excellent Subversive Memories – an indie survival horror about the Brazilian dictatorship that borrows equally from Signalis and Alan Wake. I’ve continued exploring the mansion of Blue Prince with my 14 year old and got agonisingly close to unlocking the last room a couple of times.”
It’s been a return to Life Is Strange – a reunion, if you will – for Tuffcub, who enjoyed returning for Max and Chloe’s final story together, even if it’s an ageing game format now.
Ade has really got into Khazan: The First Berserker. He said, “Souls games normally don’t appeal to me, but Khazan’s gorgeous anime characters caught my eye. Completely satisfying combat, awesome bosses, and a suprisingly doable difficulty (played on normal at least!) means that Khazan has won me over.”
And finally, Tef has largely come to the end of The Division: Resurgence, finding the final third of the story a real slog with an very flat ending… but he’s still dipping in each day to keep boosting his character’s stats and gear. Alongside that, he’s played the rogulite minotaur Dungeon Keeper-alike Minos, and you can expect a review of that rather soon.
How about you? What have you played?
