Last year, Warner Bros. Games was hit by layoffs within its management team. Now, the publisher is looking to the future and preparing for upcoming releases that could make a big splash.
In an interview with Variety, JB Perrette, head of Warner Bros. Discovery, explained that 2025 had been a year of βresetβ for the company. The executive acknowledges that the firm wanted to do βtoo many licenses with too many studios.β Thus, 2026 will mark a smooth recovery with the release of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and the mobile game Dragon Fire based on the Game of Thrones saga.
Perrette also discussed what’s coming next year. In 2027-2028, Warner Bros. Games will return to some of its biggest franchises.
“The real fruits will start coming in in β27-β28 when we return to some of our biggest franchises.”
While no specific license was mentioned, we can obviously think of Hogwarts Legacy 2. The first installment, released in 2023, sold over 40 million copies worldwide.
