Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s Upcoming Techmarine And its Iconic Weapon Teased

Saber Interactive has revealed details about the new playable class coming to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 – the Techmarine. While the studio is yet to confirm when it will be releasing this free update – dubbed Patch 12 – the developers have revealed some interesting bits of information, including the fact that the Techmarine will have its own iconic melee weapon: the Omnissian Axe.

Some of the abilities that the Techmarine will be equipped with revolve around its Servo-Gun ability that, when enabled, has the gun automatically start firing at enemies. The passive ability of the Techmarine can be used to restore Tarantula Sentry Guns, which will start spawning in all of the game’s various PvE levels.

Along with this, the studio has also confirmed that there will be a playtesting session for Patch 12 through which players can get their hands on the Techmarine early to understand the new class and its various abilities. The Techmarine will be available to play in both the PvE Operations and Siege game modes, as well as the various PvP game modes.

Going by Saber Interactive’s roadmap from back in August, patch 12 is slated for release in Q1 2026, and along with the Techmarine, will also bring with it a host of new content, including a new PvE mission, Stratagems to offer new battlefield conditions, as well as an expansion to the Battle-Barge. The update will then be followed up with patch 13 in the same quarter which will bring a new Terminus enemy, new PvE mission, and an update to the game’s progression system.

PvP players will have more to look forward to with patch 14, slated for Q2 2026, which will feature two new PvP arenas, PvP stratagems, and new Stratagem-focused rewards. Patch 15 will close out the current roadmap with the addition of new Stratagem rewards, as well as a new map for the Siege game mode.

This tease about the Techmarine comes just a few days after Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 got its Reclamation update. The free update brought with it a host of new content, including a new Operation that has players facing the Tyranid Prime in the Wrath of Espandor. To help players take on this daunting challenge, the update also brought with it six new Hero weapon variants for the Bolt Sniper Rifle, Heavy Bolter, Thunder Hammer, and others.

Chaos players who prefer taking on others through the PvP mode can also now make use of more modular customisation options. The update was released alongside a trailer that showcased some of the new content.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S last year, and since then has seen quite a bit of content added to it through free updates. The title has also proven to be incredibly successful, with publisher Focus Entertainment’s parent company Pullup Entertainment’s CEO Geoffroy Sardin noting that the company “didn’t believe” that it could get so popular.
