Warframe Free Update, Glorious ARPG Expanded across PS5, Xbox, and PC

Anybody that knows me, knows I don’t need an excuse to start talking about Warframe, and once I start, good luck stopping me in under four hours.

As free games go, none that I can think of are as expansive and deep as developer Digital Extremes’ third-person action shooter, and things are about to get even bigger.

The next major phase in the game’s history is set to launch on 10 December, with Narrative Chapter The Old Peace going live across all platforms, bringing with it plenty of reasons to jump in and play.

If you’re yet to jump into the game at all, don’t think that this update isn’t for you, as it’s a great time to catch up with the story ahead of some massive steps for the game next year, and you don’t even have to go through everything to get to The Old Peace.

Digital Extremes

As part of today’s (28 November) Warframe devstream, Digital Extremes confirmed a lot more of the specifics around The Old Peace update, and it’s safe to say they have swung for the fences with this one.

The first headline is a new game mode in Perita Rebellion, in which you’ll need to survive for 12 minutes while completing various challenges. This ends in one of three boss fights, and when I say that those set-piece fights at the end look spectacular, please don’t think I’m exaggerating.

Before the mission starts, you’ll get to select from one of five “Focus Schools,” which allows you to power up devastating moves known as Tauron Strikes, which deal massive damage (and that you’ll probably want to save for the end).

That comes with the introduction of an entirely new enemy faction known as the Anarchs. Those are comprised of existing factions in the Dax and Grineer, though be warned they come with Prime Warframe mini-bosses that pose a considerable threat.

The big news keeps coming though, with the addition of the game’s 63rd Warframe in Uriel. The demonically designed frame is immediately one of the coolest of the bunch visually, and it comes with a nice kit that should work for several different playstyles.

You fight with a bunch of summoned demons in your orbit, who all come with devastating infernal attacks, with three fiendish allies to aid you in total.

As always, Uriel can be earned for free by playing previously announced new game mode The Descendia to collect the required blueprints and resources, or it can be bought outright from the in-game store.

The final big addition that you’ll want to be aware of is the new weapon type – the bayonet. That comes in the form of new gun Vinquibis, which occupies both the primary and melee slots to combine marksmanship and brute force. It might also be the best sounding gun in the entire game right now.

With some huge plans for Warframe’s next year, Digital Extremes isn’t slowing down and now’s as good a time as any to jump in and play, even for the first time.

The game’s very supportive community is always around for any questions that arise (and there will be a few). See you in Tau.
