Sharkmob announced today that their battle royale game, Vampire: The Masquerade โ€“ Bloodhunt will be shutting down its servers on April 28, 2026.

After four years, a battle royale game will be unavailable to play by next year. Sharkmob announced today that their battle royale game, Vampire: The Masquerade โ€“ Bloodhunt will be shutting down its servers on April 28, 2026. The devs put out a statement on the official website, explaining it was due to the declining player count. As of today, token purchases have been disabled.

While token purchases have been deactivated, the in-game store will still be open, allowing players to spend any tokens they may have until the servers go down. Once the game goes offline, any remaining tokens will not be usable. All account and gameplay data will be deleted after closure in accordance with GDPR and/or equivalent. Sharkmob stopped rolling out new content in 2023, leaving the game in maintenance mode.

โ€œWhen we first opened the streets of Prague to you, we could only hope that the nights you spent there would create the memories they did. From the battles fought on the rooftops to the friendships made in the chaos, Bloodhunt has lived through you in countless unforgettable ways. During these past 4 years, we have been thrilled to see your passion and dedication to Bloodhunt. Your feedback, creativity, and enthusiasm for our game has meant the world to us. However, despite you, our amazing community, the current player population has reached a level where keeping the servers running is no longer sustainable. This has led us to make the difficult decision to take Bloodhunt offline.โ€

Vampire: The Masquerade โ€“ Bloodhunt originally launched back in 2022 after Early Access in 2021. The game was announced back in Summer Game Fest 2020 as something different from the RPG rootsย The Masqueradeย hails from, as its start was a tabletop RPG game. It was set in the World of Darkness, where the undead battle across the streets of Prague. Players and critics loved the game aesthetics and world in the battle royale genre. The game adaptation never stuck too closely to the TTRPG, but incorporated a bunch of its concepts.

As of writing, Vampire: The Masquerade โ€“ Bloodlines 2 is currently at a Metacritic score of 64. The game was just released on October 21, 2025. While many enjoy the World of Darkness, it might be time for the devs to find new ways to reinvigorate life in this vampiric franchise. CGMagazineโ€™s Erik McDowell wrote in their 6.5/10 review, โ€œVampire: The Masquerade โ€“ Bloodlines 2ย is first and foremost a narrative adventure. It has action and RPG elements, but theyโ€™re limited enough to feel like window dressing over a linearity that borders on โ€œon-the-rails.โ€
